Requirement for HC in emmersed n submersed form

Hi i would like to know the requirement of HC inside n outside water. Thanks in advance.

Sufficent lights & co2 for submersed form is one key essential issue...

Self experience: I bought my HC back during the time when I ran out of co2... at the same time I had fail to get the refill about month time. The HC somehow manage to survive but the leaves had turn to be weak and flimmzy. Upon getting my refill back, I started introducing 3-4 bubbles count per seconds for my 2ft tank and nothing else change (lights & fertierlization). The HC had bloom like nobody business, had fill my foreground i less than 3 weeks time...

Does HC needs base fert to grow well? or just root monster will do ?

Base fert is ideal but I've got mine growing emersed on the surface of my tank water, without touching the substrate at all. I was lazy to remove those bits that did not went into the substrate properly and after a few month, it accumulated above my moss wall, at the water surface. It had grown the length of the tank rear glass. I'm still lazy to remove those too!
