I have growing Aquatic plants for two years,
This is the first time I worked on a Layout design. Hope everyone advises me

I found it is not easy to present a designed layout, My Aquascaping now is abit different from what I thought in half year ago..
The idea firstly came to my mind in a year ago was "Quiet Night Memories"...
I was trying to present a very silence remote country side at night...where likes the place I grow up...
moreover, wanted to present a emotion and feeling of a traditonal family...relax, quiet and feel free at night time....
all people there can do it was watch the stars and listen to bugs singins...
Besides, the Idea maybe nice for telling, but when I do it, I found I am not too good to make it real...

    referrences brought me ideas :
    pictures that inspire me...

    Lets share my equipments

    Tanks Size: 96cm x 40cm x 45cm(H)
    Lighting System : T5HO 39W x 4 with DIY box + T8 30W x 2
    CO2 System : 1kg set, 4 bubbles/sec
    Filtration System : Atman CF800 940L/hr + Mr. Aqua in-water 1200L/hr + Mr.Aqua 240L/hr
Substrate System : ADA Aqua Soil Africana 27L + ADA Aqua Soil - Amazonia 9L
Dress up Accessories : Rocks 50 pounds (but only can see so little ), woods, small stones for the "river road"

As I am abit disappointed about it doesn't look like what I thought, and the pictures are not taken so well, abit blur.....
but I was enjoy since I had did everything on Aquascaping and learn so much from seniors.... and now, I am still so excited about my first Aquascaping even it is not so succee.

    thx for veiwing

Well done Cliff, must say it done very professionally, contest ready scape.
To me, the pathway looks like a dried-up stream? I agreed the rocks are too well hidden.

Transparent glass fish in a serene color background. Good choice of color combination. Indeed very professional ! How long it takes from your start of resacpe to reach this prime stage ? What about your fertilization scheme ?
Perhaps a little comment is that this type of glass fish is actually from brackish water (salty and alkaline water). You can also consider the glass cat fish which is from fresh acidic water ?

    Hi Cliff,
Welcome to Aquatic Quotient. The work you guys doing over there are great. I would say the current scape has achieved what you set out to do. I would translate your chinese or cantonese sentence as 'In the still of the night'. I would reckon the scape is trying to portray someone walking in the forest on a trail coming to a opening, with the stem plants on the right representing funny shapes or things you would imagine in the darkness of the night. Just like one of those scenes you always see in ghost movies But I would really like to compliment you on the composition of this scape, the balance is really good! I would give you a 9 out of 10 only because I don't believe in perfection.

Yes, I wanted to know what you imagined it to be like

If I had any comment, I'd say the moss on the branches look incomplete.

    Hi Cliff,
Thanks for your kind words, my works are at best mediocre. Really glad you guys are sharing your works over here, looking forward to more of your impressive work. Out of curiosity, did you start off with photography first or aquascaping? Me, still learning.and yes I'm cantonese also.

    to dc88,
yes, it is quite hard to keep on for 8 months, before this setup, I change the veiw of my tank every week..... after set up this tank.... I just keep forward on doing the layout and maintaince thing.....

and yes, I had send the photo to the ADA contest, this is my first layout and first time entry, hope can get in top 400....

if you guys are interests, I can share my "presentation" and "package" of the ADA contest photo..

to |squee|,I was imagine the shape and the layout should be more comfortable...I think...
and the the connection of the plants should be more smooth....

    to michael lai,
wo... that is very happy I can meet a cantonese here, and I love your works, really... you are a senior to me...! to my work, I think I can say that I am started with aquascaping first, and then photography of tanks..... I learn photography for few years ago, but not very serious, and I was learning it not for aquascaping at first.... and now, I am still very new of both of them.
    nice to meet you!

    to ragn4rok,
hi jeff, I had read lots of your outdoor tank....and I had sent you a pm at the other side.....but it was down or cleanning up.... I hope getting news from you!

    Thx micheal...
and thx for guys who viewing....

Then I can show, firstly, the graphic layout of my presentation to the ADA contest.....
as known, the presentation is just a self-made entry form, which ADA's offcial applicant form has limited area to write.... and hope to show the "heart" of this aquascaping to the contest group...
this time is also my first time doing such a presentation....

designing proposals is also my hobby....
    hope everyone enjoy it...

Cliff, I enjoyed looking at your aquascape and the time-lapse pictures. I think that you took your competition picture at exactly the right time.

I am not sure if the extra effort put in for the ADA submission package has any impact on the judges, but it must have impact on the person who collects the mail and has to sort the hundreds of submissions into some sort of order. If the ADA picture is considered important by the sender, then the packaging of that picture should reflect the importance of the submission to the receiver. Good luck for ADA 2006

    Hi Cliff,
Nice, I find the presentation organised, meticulous and simple. Good work . I might be wrong here but for the plant section item 6, don't think it's heteranthera zosterifolia. Let's hear from the others.

    wow... astonishing tank....

    i got a question...
you put your tank in front of the window right??
would that cause algae bloom in the tank???

cause my neighbour put his tank at the corridor in the shade and within a week the water start to turn green...

Cliff, wow - very beautiful setup.
With the transparent looking fish certainly makes the aquascape look quiet like the night.
Not sure if using all-green plants will make it even more "quiet". I find the left side of the tank more "still" than the colourful right side. Maybe if you dim the lighting during photo taking will create the effect you wanted.
