    hi,

i've just set up my eheim 2028 and noticed a low hum from the motor.

it's not the sound of air being expelled out of the impeller chamber. rather it apppears to be the normal hum of the motor.

but although it's not noticeable in the daytime, at night when all is quiet then the sound is audible. ie. standing in front of the 4 ft, the filter is placed on the open floor, no cabinet.

this is quite disturbing as my other eheim 2213 has never given off such a loud noise even in the silence of my room at night.

i need to have some feedback from other eheim 2028 users. is it natural as the eheim has a much higher flow rate than the eheim 2213? but the noise level is kinda out of place when i observe the tank at nite.

    thx...

My E2028 did not give out much noice. In fact I have a tough time determining if the the pump is running. Maybe you could try switching it off and prime the system till all the air has been removed.
    Cheers!!

when i first got my 2028, i could hear that humming sound too. very irritating and i was worried too.

it's definitely a motor sound, didn't sound like air/bubble caused...

anyway, i got so used to it and recently noticed the sound has gone down. don't hear anything unless i go really near to it.

    good luck!

how is the flowrate of the canister?
had it not been cleaned for a long time?

are you using a lot of excessive elbows/fittings everywhere ?

coz excess friction resistence strain the motor a lot.
And mine does make noise and also becomes hotter when strained too much

    hi,

erm... my eheim is like just 2 days old.... haha...

only using recommended media with a bit of 3rd party filter wool.

i think i found the problem... the flow guage rubber ball is vibrating against the transparent plastic tube. that's what causing the rattling noise.

the normal hum of the motor is alright but the rattling is rattling my nerves...

still not as quiet as my eheim 2213 though []

    cheers and thanx [:]
