Vietnamese Sparkle-Gem Whitecloud (Tanichthys micagemmae), does our local LFS have them? Doesn't look quite the same as your normal white cloud, or are they the same?

It's a different species. The other white cloud is T. albonubes.

Also minnows are cyprinids (carp family), not characins.

should get MrTree to take a look, but looks pretty much like a regualr whitecloud Tanichthys albonubes.

strangely, I thought these weren't exported much as there's not much aquarium export from Vietnam? even stranger to have them mixed in a shipment.

i think Japan has quite a number of these already. Seeing the price is not expensive too. Probably some discus farm exported them out. don't see them in singapore is probably because singapore importers don't buy things from Vietnam.

i would have thought they were exported from thailand as the lfs don't get anything from japan, maybe an inexperianced person bagged up what he thought were wcmm?.

still I don't see why they would get mixed in a shipment, unless it got mixed at UK.

Just want to know how is it that the usual whitecloud minnow seems brownish in colour at the LFS, yet they seem very different in pictures.

cannot compare fishes photographed with flash or under sunlight, with fish you see with your eyes under florescent light.
