What's the difference between the two? I seemed to have both... Or will green dust algae become green spot algae? I am kinda confused by the two now...

green dust forms a layer on your glass.. when you touch it with your finger it comes off very easily like dust on shelves. Nothing you can do aobut it if you get it.. just water cahnge and continual cleaning and attacking the algae will get rid of it.

Green spot forms on the glass as well but you cant get it off by just touching it with your fingers. usually increasing the p04 and/or c02 helps.

So, the hard ones are green spot and they can cover the entire glass, right? Increasing CO2 and phosphates will help? If not, then nerites would be good too...

Thanks ranma... I will go back and touch touch my "green dust" and see if it is green dust or green spot...

I think it is my CO2 that is the problem rather than my PO4 as I dose quite abit. I was wondering if inbalanced of NO3 and PO4 also results in green spot algae arising?

Agreed. A real pain if it is at the back wall of the tank.

Just let the green dust do its cycle before killing it off. Constant wiping means no end to it.

From what I read from APC, it seems that Tom did not do anything at all after the algae has hardened up... The green harden algae will seem to detach itself off the glass...

My shrimps seem to LOVE the hardened algae layer... I see them day and night picking on the front glass... I am wondering now if I want to wipe the algae off...
