Hey Mervin, your photo shoot is uncovering more and more birds species that we've ever seen before! Great job!
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
Another great shot Mervin, can I check with you why the focus at the lower right side of the picture is fading off?
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.
Thanks guys, hope to share more.![]()

MErvin.. Thats a GREAT FIND!! very nice bird.. i love its eyes and how they contrast with the black on the face..
Just for some of the less-birdy folks out there.. blue colour in bird feathers aren't actually a TRUE colour.

Eh... you really bird watcher a not??
Blue feathers aren't really blue.. they look blue but there is not even one bird on earth that has a "true" blue feather on its body..
what i mean "true" colour is that it is pigmented blue. Basically meaning that when light hits it.. its the pigments inside the feather that is reflecting the colour into our eyes. Blue feathers (even the very nice blues) are really pigmented black or grey... they have zero blue pigment in them. so how do they appear blue? well.. its the way the feathers are built..
On a molecular level, the feathers have structures like little deformed prisms.. these take the light that hits it and when it re-emerges.. only emits the colour blue.. so in this case.. it can look blue but its base colour (the pigmented) colour isn't really blue...the colour you see is due to the feathers molecular structure.
If you take a blue feather..like a peacocks and put it between a light and your eye you'll see that its black/grey.
This prism theory is the same for some insects as well.. actually for many insects.
I think the same applies to the blue stripe in cardinals and neons.
Mervin,
May I know where was the bird shot? They are suppose to be found in Bukit Timah nature reserve but so far not able to see one. Can go to the Birdpark for a easier view of these jungle juwels.
