    Hi guys,

My taiwan moss wall is about 3wks old and I have noticed something unusual about its growth rate.

The moss under the Osram(6000K) tube seems to be growing faster than those under the Liyoda(6500K) tube(was told by light shop its a Malaysian brand).

The Osram tube is older than the Liyoda.

Both tubes cover the length of my tank(3ft) and the light is evenly distributed, micro CO2 bubbles are carried across the mesh by water current.

Attached is a pic for your reference.

Has anyone of you experienced this before?

    Tks

Maybe CO2 flow from Osram(6000K) tube to Liyoda(6500K) so taken up by the moss in front?!? Taiwan moss in my opinion is quite a fast grower (with strong lights, CO2 and stuff) but is slow when temp is high. Once got tawian moss on a driftwood and cannot grow but able to maintain in my 2 ft tank using 55W PL light. Now in my shrimp tank, grows very well even just under 9W PL light.

Sorry for so long winded. In short, check water temp and water circulation.

Water temp is maintained @ 25-26 degrees by a chiller, the output of both filters(Eheim 2026) are placed at the sides.

Different brand of tubes produce different quality of intensity eventhough the specification are the same in term of lumen and kelvin.

Sometime, it is hard for us to find out those not so establish brand's lumen.

Quality control of particular brand will determine their life span.
