Spiky Moss gifted by Mr Loh Kwek Leong in Feb

Hi Everybody,
I am a dormant member of this group. Five months back when I joined I was just amazed to know this world of bryophytes. Thankfully enough, the moderator of this forum gifted me with one of the beautiful moss. To my horror the moss arrived one month after it was despatched (thanks to postal department). It was still deep green in color but started to show signs of giving up in places. I immediately seperated it in two portion and in two different tanks to give it a better chance. A portion was tied on a flat piece of granite and went into my main tank. Another portion went to a pond. Closed down the heater in the main tank to cool down the water a bit. Four months later I have a nice amount of the moss growing healthily. I am able to harvest so much from that handful that now I cover 4 good sizes driftwood with the moss. I intend to carpet out the front of the aquarium with this moss in the near future and then try to trade this moss with newer moss variety with my fellow aquarist over here. Many thanks to the list members and specially to Mr Loh for gifting such a wonderful plant.

Well, it just goes to show what a good traveller moss is. But I'm kind of surprised it took so long to reach you, Atanu. A few years back, I sent some mosses to Madan who lives in Bangalore too and the envelope took only 3 days to reach him.

Your aquascape looks very nice. I'm impressed. The Spiky Moss though, may not make a good carpet moss. Under certain conditions, it grows straight up like Erect Moss. I'm having this problem in my tank right now. Show you a picture later.

Well i also am surprised that the moss took so long because when Mr Loh had sent it to me it took hardly about a week. Well the moss i had got from Mr Loh has done really well in my tank too and i have also passed it on to about 4 or 5 other hobbyists here in bangalore, well i do know Madan very well and the moss you sent him i am sure have been distributed all over bangalore and India also. I also may have the same moss that you had sent him. With the temperature down now here in Bangalore to about 24degrees the mosses have really taken off. Thanks a lot again for the moss.
