This is not entirely true. I have read that people actually breed CRS in water with pH 7.5. And my cherries is breeding in water of pH 6 - 6.5. So the pH part is not that important I guess.Originally Posted by zyblack

One question... Crystal Red requires acidic, soft water to begin reproduction whilst Cherry Red shrimps require alkaline, hard water to breed. So how does one goes about ensuring both
species breed in a same tank? Neutral Ph?
Edit: I had started a new thread for you, zyblack. Next time, just start a new thread if you have a different query from the original thread.![]()

i have bred cherris in slightly acidic waters before.. pH around 6-6.8..Originally Posted by zyblack
so i believe waters of pH around 6-6.8 will be good enough for both?
because cherries can survive in slightly acidic waters but CRS can only survive a while in alkaline water...
i'm now having 50+ pieces of cherries in a 2ft tank with water pH 6-6.5..![]()
doing well.. website says cherries needs slightly alkaline waters to breed, will see how things goes... if they are able to breed like the cherries i kept last time, in the slightly acidic water, might be adding in a few pieces of CRS to test things out too... maybe a few lower grade CRS from C328 to try out...![]()
