will ruled out clown loaches and rams as a companion for your shrimps. used to have rummy noses and neon tetras kept together with my cherry shrimps, don't have much luck in breeding them then. not til when i removed the fishes, the shrimps have bred for generations.

What species of lobsters are you looking at?
If its the common blue lobster, you can differentiate by the pincers, the male have a orange patch on its pincers.
Another way is to look at the underside of the lobster.

Cherry shrimps will breed readily in its conditions are right!
Shrimplets are just too temping to most fishes!
Just make sure you provide enough hiding places for the shrimplets and very soon your tank will be filled with cherry shrimps!
