I think it shows great potential. If you have enough time, you should consider submitting it for ADA's 2006 plant layout contest.
Cheers,
Finally got down to fiddling with the manual control for my antique canon s45...... managed to get some more decent pictures.....![]()
This is just after a major trimming of the HG and the vallis........
Please help me improve on the setup! Thanks!![]()
P/s: please ignore the centre powerhead which is a temp measure to improve flow to the centre and also the tauhway tube floating in the left corner holding my unused weeping moss/ferns......come to think of it... i better stop proscrastinating and start getting some DW to tie my moss and ferns![]()

Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
Agree! As it stands now, it looks great to submit for ADA 2006. Just need to take a clear picture without the floating containers and exposed filter.
See submission details at http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=18984
Hear from you soon.

i envy you having such a big tank! Really look nice. Should do even better when your plants starts to matured, moss starts growing more. Really, you should consider ADA 06!
For a 6ft tank you 've done well, the discus compliment the big scape.
Not to mention the budget.
IMO, however I think is better to have a single pathway, add more middle plants on the left side and plant more tall plants on the right.
Check out ADA 2005 scape no.16.
Personally, I think the double pathway is a refreshing idea too. Single pathway seems pretty common already.
Keep it up!

Nice big setup, great job![]()
Once your plants matured, be very nice! agree upon submitting it for ADA 06!
Very nice.
I would also suggest planting something in front of the driftwood on the left of the left pathway to cover the naked legs.
Question: how do you prevent growth of plants covering the pathway? Or you just pull the plants out?
My personal opinion is that some of these pathways are too obviously gardened to be empty. In the depiction of a scene in the wild, some rocks or obstruction would have caused these pathways. In this case, there's none and I just felt it didn't really fit.
Just my honest views.
Thanks! I might just do that.....waiting for the trimmings to grow in a bit first and maybe add a little midlevel plants and increase the right tall plants density... not that i think my tank is great but i think getting the free booklet may be worth it after allOriginally Posted by juggler
Can learn from the experience!

I think your suggestion on the mid/tall plants are pretty good.... will be doing that this weekendOriginally Posted by eddyq

I came up with the double pathway idea from my previous forage to pulau ubin during school days and tekong during NS (who say u dun learn anything from NS?).........
The idea is to bring about convergence of attention to a central area from the left and right of a rather longish landscape which a single pathway may not be able to achieve....![]()
Hmm.... good suggestion on covering the naked legs part..... i am actually waiting for my blyx japonica to grow abit more before i trim and use these trimmings to cover that area......anyone got extra japonica to spare?Originally Posted by hjbyeo

I kept the path clear by regularly trimming and replanting the foreground plan tlets that creep into the area..... even my vallis are sending runners to the front from underneath the DW!!I am thinking of using some cut out transparency cutouts to limit the growth...... but still under considerations

Agree on you about the paths caused by obstructions.... i actually have a DW covered by moss at the Y-part of the convergence.... too camouflaged already.... hmmm time to find a small granite piece with character to accentuate that part..........I may also splatter some HC around the paths to make it less "gardened". What do u think?

The more I look at it, the more I feel at peace with the scape. It's like a timeless submerged world, with the discuses frollicking amongst the foliage!
Japonica just in front of the driftwood together with some Granite rocks will be really nice??!!
If you can accentuate the Y-part, it would be good too! Rocks with Drift wood... nice!
Maybe after putting some rocks and japonica in front of the Driftwood, it will be the complete look?? you may not need to drop in the HC then?
Personally I don't appreciate the tall round leaf plant that grows right in the middle of the Y-pathway. It sort of divides the tank into two separate parts and tends to get me look at the left then the right. It breaks continuation...
Also, any nice dainty little white/yellow/pinkish-red flowering plants (something like baby's breath kind) thatz able to grow under water? maybe can plant some (sparingly) at the mid-front area to add some decoration to the 'smooth' and flat foreground; without snatching away attention from the landscape as a whole and the fishes!
