Yamato and Betta splendens

Hi, Ihave a nice red Betta splendens in my 1.5 ft moss tank. Recently, there is an outbreak of green algae and I want to introduce some Yamato shrimps. My question is: Will the betta eat these Yamato shrimps?

They will be curious and will check the shrimps out. If the yamatos are big enough, it should be ok. Especially if there is some plant mass for the shrimps to hide if the betta gets too curious for their sake. Smaller shrimps may be in great danger... But it all depends on the curiosity of the individual betta.

Jason: If afraid that the betta will eat the shrimps, can put the betta in a separate container. They are so hardy.

Thanks for the idea, but the betta's job is to patrol the tank to prevent it from turning into a breeding tank for mosquitos. By the way that is the only fish I have for this plant nursery tank.
I have introduced the yamato shrimps, it looks like they can fend for themselves.

a sparkling gourami would be a better choice, in my opinion.
