too much lights did burn my plants one day. so if u r using Mh, put the low plants in the shady corner, or under Dw etc...
Eg. I have some nana just under MH, they did 'burn'.
Hi All,
Is Mh lighting sys can support low n high demand plants... As aware too much light might cause algee boom.. or t5 lighting is better...?? tot of setting up 2x 150 mh with t5 54watts, 3x70mh with 2xt5 80wats or 4 t5 80watts lighting.. awared that i should decided whether low or high demand plants... but looking for universal lighting to suit all levels.. aware tat mh provide more heat compare to t5 lighting.. tank size 6ftby2ftby2ft...

MH will be a good choice for your large tank imho.
It will suit all lighting levels because you can raise the height of the MH lights from the tank.
I would have to agree with Squee here, for a 6 footer probably only MH can do the job. It's very different when you look at a MH tank and T5 lighted tank. The 'clarity'. Try to accomodate a chiller into your budget too. have fun.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.
yep, mh is the better choice for such a big tank
i have 3 x150W over my 6x2x2.5(ht) ft.
after switching to plants with lower light requirements (swords, nanas, ferns, crypts etc), i raised the lights higher as well as staggered the light photoperiod.
1-3pm - 2x150w (left & right pendants)
3-7pm - 3x150w (centre pendant on)
7-9pm - 2x150w (left & right pendants)
now thinking whether should i reduce the photoperiod to less than 8 hrs...
Cheers,
Melvin Lim
thanks for all the advices here from all the experts..
Is this combination of this type of lighting effective and sufficients enough, 3x70mh at the middle with 2xt5 80watts at both side.. each mh is apart of a distance of 1.5ft
tot of switching on centre mh lighting first ,follow by another 2 mh with lastly the t5 light.. to create the dawn to dusk effect...
even thinking of 4/6 x t5 80watts ...
