Just a thought while looking at Amano's tanks.

Any one using this combination of fertilisation and substrate? How does the two complement each other. What is exactly in Brighty ferts? Will our usual KH2SO4 and KNO3 work as well?

The nutrients for plants are standard and would not change. It doesn't matter if its Amano's brighty series or Seachem's.

Peter's got a good point there. To me, you're just paying for the brands' name.

I believe Amano supplies most of the macros through his substrate system, while traces are added in his liquid fertilisers, as well as a range of anti-algae products like Phyton-Git.

Step 3 contains nitrogen and phosphate if I'm not wrong for later years of the aquarium when the substrate runs low on them.

Some people will pay for something simple and will work without having so much trouble.

Later this month, I'll get around to measuring the NO3, PO4 etc that's in each.

Not sure why folks wanna know, we already know the rates of uptake for the tanks etc.

Seems simpler to the cut to the chase and add the KNO3, it's 22$ for 50lbs here, which is several lifetime's worth of ferts.
