I came across the Azoo Denitrator at Fisherman aquarium at Haig Rd.It is very cheap compared to the Sera one.I am thinking of buying one.Looks like it is worth the investment. The problem is I need to buy the liquid to feed the bacteria which I cannot find anywhere when it runs out.
Will adding this gaget help in reducing the chances of algae problem?
Any adverse effects on the plants and fish.

i was actually looking at the possibility of installing a denitrator in a planted tank. After researching on e net, i found that the denitrator has both its pros and cons

pros) reduces nitrates, thus allowing a heavier stocking level

cons) hard to control, and there's the omni present risk of it producing hydrogen sulphide (if i remem correctly) which could wipe out the entire tank's inhabitant

plants need nitrate (pref. NHx) which the denitrator removes.

depending on the type of denitrator installed, you may/may not have to feed the bacteria colonising it. (was looking at a diy coil denitrator)

as such, you may want to reconsider installing it coz it may coz you even more problem in the long run (if not properly maintained)

    cheers

PS: its usu. installed in a marine tank though where nitrates level could easily rise to range of the 100s

Not recommended for plant tanks. Plants need nitrates. Usually in planted tanks nitrates are in control, unless you have a super heavy fish load or overfeeding.

Usually denitrator is used in the reef aquarium where corals are very sensitive to nitrates.
