    Hi,

    I am not sure what you are confused about. We did not mention that the water is acidic, nor brown. Growing plants in no-Co2 condition is probably much more suitable for large volume water body and exposed to natural elements.

    The acidic condition would most likely be at the bottome of the gravel. The thick layer of sand acts as a blanket and prevents any brown substance from surfacing. This is the same reason why base fertilizer are not floating or leeching.
