Nice rams you have there
where did you bought them?
thanks
Just got 3 pairs of rams for my recently revamped tank.
(Their bigger) size doesn't matter much though. My lonely female apisto - my only apisto that survived months of neglect- still rules the tank.![]()

nice rams, are the germans? good colours and shape.
mick
Hard to find such original shape ! Very nice.
Mostly balloon mutants out there : (
saw this RAM shape at wuhu yesterday.
I got them from Toh, a stone's throw from Teo.
I was told that they are 'germans' but since these are bred in Singapore so he can say whatever he wants.![]()

how much is it?
If I recall correctly, this forum has some guidelines on pricing discussions.
All I can say is that it's a little more expensive than the small round-bodied rams in most LFS but dirt cheap compared to most apistos.

I see eggs...

Congratulation !
Hope you don't keep Cory in the tank ? They are the number one egg snatcher !
No cories but not that they matter ... How can a couple of rams stand against 4 other rams, 70+ cardinals and a dozen or so of other fishies?

Teo as in Teo's Aquatic? been looking around for Rams myself, but I am trying to be selective about it. Saw some Rams just like that at Kingfisher and Biotope.Originally Posted by theodore
Yup, Teo as in Teo Aquatic Plant Farm in Lim Chu Kang. Toh is just around the corner.

I was there during the wkend. You have to drive in thru the main gate into a small alley and they are at the last unit.
IMO, the long RAM is more nicer there than the round type.
BTW, can 1 round male and 1 long female RAM breed?
nice rams.... they should breed in this setup

In theory: Yes, since they are of the same species.Originally Posted by crazyfish
In practice: Difficult. Rams don't pair up for breeding just because you have a male and a female in one tank. Of my 6 rams (in a 4ft), only 1 pair formed a strong bond and bred. Another pair just swims together but are more interested in my presence (mealtime) than propagating their bloodline. The last 2 are simply not interested in each other.
BTW: It is not recommended to breed specimens with known deformities (round bodied-ness, albinism) with normal-looking ones. You will end up with fishes that (may) look normal but carry recessive genes that will wreak havoc in subsequent generations.
I have way too many fishes in this tank. The eggs didn't last beyond the second day. I'm in the process of cycling a small breeding tank and will add a pair soon.Originally Posted by SCOPE
