    1) do shrimps (cherry shrimps, for that matter) only moult in the dark? So far, I've never actually seen them doing it but only what's left after it's done when i turn on the lights next morning.

    2) do shrimps moult more often when the water temperature is lower as compared to higher? So far, this is the pattern I've observed.

I've searched the web but can't find much answers. Please input your experiences. Thanks

hi.. i just happen to see they moult when my light is still on.. have forgotten day or night liao..

shimp moult when their shell is getting small for their body...in another words how offen they moult depend on how fast they glow..

It is not true that shrimp only molt in dark.

They molt often at certain temperature range, not necessarily the lower the temperature, the more they will molt.

Yes, shrimps molt when there are sudden changes in their environment (water changes, re-scape etc) and when they grow bigger. I did not notice they moult only at night or during lights off. I will notice the moulted shells as and when during the lights on period... especially after water changes...

All I ever saw the moulting was that the shrimps just seem to magically pop it off their body.
