Could it be that you are trying to chill too big a tank?
Could it be that you are trying to chill too big a tank?
I used a rule to measure the water volume in my tank to be 60litres. Within the supported capacity of the chiller.
Not sure if I can changed to CL-150???
It is a bit difficult diagnose the issue, one would think that almost any chiller would reduce the temperature of 60 litre tank over a one day period, so it is probably something fundamentally incorrect. A few questions to assist:
- Does the chiller switch on; make a noise like a fridge indicating that it is operations?
- Do you have the inflow /outflow connection from the tank to the chiller setup correctly?
- Could the chiller temperature be mistakenly set at a temperature higher than 28.5?
- When you put your hand near the tank inflow pipe is the water colder than the tank water?
- Is there any plastic bag/material/ preventing airflow through the chiller?
Good luck

The chiller does switched on every 10-15mins.
There isn't any in-flow or out-flow shown on the setup instructions.
I checked the temp a few times and is sure that I set it to 25C
Amazingly the water feels the same whether in-flow or out-flow.
THe airflow is clear and unblocked.
Any other experiences with similar problem anyone??
If CL-85 is a thermo-electric chiller, then ambient temperature is the reason.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

Just called RESUN service and support, they will come down for a site visit this two days. Might be something wrong with the chiller, as it is suppose to keep chilling till it can achieve a desired temp. Mine stop after 1-2min.
Cl-80W is running a 80W peltier (TEM) and your tank is 60L. The cooling power of the CL80 should be slightly less than 80W which mean if the CL80 is working properly and with SG normal room temperature, your CL80 will be running 24 x 7 and still your water won't get to 25-26 degree.
No point changing to a CL150 because it will be also running at 24 x 7 from my estimation but most probably it can achieve 26 degree on your tank but it will cost much more compare to running a compressor chiller like CL280. I suggest you change to a CL280. The price difference for CL80-CL150 with CL280 is not really great.
This will solve your problem and definitely less noisy than a CL80 or CL150 which need a high speed fan to cool the TEM heat sink.
Thank you so much for your reply.
I think I made a decision now with your reply.
