Wonder if any brother really pratice 'feng sui' in order to decide the location of the tank.

I was planning to place a nano tank in my bedroom but was advice not to do so by my parents.

Any problem to have a tank in bedroom?

There are 3 main reasons here....
    First
Your mum and dad are obsessed with feng shui

    Second
If your brother or your sister is sleeping in your room, the room might not have enough space.

    Third
Your room will flood if the tank breaks..

    Hope it helps..=)

Seriously, besides the Feng Shui factor, I don't see why not... I have 4 fish tanks in my room... But maintenance is a little troublesome... especially if the space in the room is rather limited...

In my case, with 4 tanks in my room, I will die if my tank breaks... with all the electricity, CPU on the floor, extension plug lying all around....

If you are setting tank for first time, do take extra time to arrange all the stuff nicely and safely....And learn not to crowd the place... I wish to give you that advice because I tend to make these mistakes....

What health problems do you foresee with a fish tank?

The only health problems I can think with tanks are, and this is from personal experience.... shoulder pain, near shoulder dislocation, backache,(from carrying water) finger cuts(when washing gravel), and finger cram.(when planting)..now i change to using long hose, ada soil and twisers...

Every time I come to Singapore after holiday, the first step outside airport, I want to kill myself

It's good that you ask such thing if that help you be less worried...Keeping tank does not pose problem to your health. I am not a doctor, but I think I am better doctor that the medical guy who told you that...

    Where's that medical guy from?

Air humidity is almost 100% in Singapore. If that is bad, then we all would have lung problems by now... And we don't have to take in the second hand smoke etc to get lung problems...

Humid air, in contrary, is good for skin and lungs, if I didn't remember wrongly... Hey, you save the money of buying those air humidifier you see regularly on sale in shopping centers...

Flat's too small plus I'm too into the hobby to bother about fengshui, thus yes, I've tanks in the bedrooms too.

More importantly, don't place your tank too near the windows - to avoid algae growth.

true, my parents objected in the first place using the feng shui reason.
but. soon, they forget the crap when the tank is established, they will sit there every day to just enjoy the sights of the fish n tank.
just keep the tank away from children is good enough.they will throw toys or put their hand into the tank! haha

feng shui aside, there is another factor to consider and also knowing what you intend to keep.

If the air-con is turned on at night, temperature can go low. In the day it swing back up. So knowing what you want to keep is important. Discus sure cannot tolerate this kind of drastic temp change.

Oh yah, a Discus tank in your bedroom if you can't sleep without aircon, is out unless you've a heater in the tank.

Although one may half-believe in fung shui, most of the time the fung shui master comments do make sense.

I was once asked to shift my tank from one part of the living room to another by a fung shui guy. No bad things happened to me (can't say any good thing happend though, still alive and kicking I guess that's good enough). On fish tank in the bedroom, see comments from a fung shui source:

"Water in the form of an aquarium or a fish tank is not good to be placed in a bedroom. This is because fishes swimming in the fish tank do generate yang Qi and again as the bedroom is a place of rest (yin) it is not ideal to have a fish tank in the room. Even symbolic paintings such as a scenery of sea waves, or water `hitting' against coastal rocks are best left out in the bedroom.".

Can't fault the logic but again fung shui masters differs in opinion. Ask the IR fung shui guys!
