EDIT: Extracted from 'The 'Black Goliath'' thread. The guys were talking about the fish and side tracked to a trip to the Amazon. Please continue your discussions on the trip here.

Maybe 07 we catch those two giants ourselves same river

Since edited out, need to clarify that the two giants (LDA65 and Acanthicus Adonis) can both be found in Peru.

I doubt if we can catch big specimens but have fun we definitely will who knows we might discover something new, Acanthicus Michaellai, L488 or something... heehee and after we are done, we'll just walk into a farm and ask them to send the big ones back. I heard they have 90cm specimens over there, now that's what I call a show piece.

Nothing firm yet, due to our hectic schedules but yes, we are in the midst of planning. A year to save up and plan, hopefully it happens.

I've always wondered how much does it actually cost to make a trip down to amazon? Let's say a 1 wk trip.
    Best Regards

For a trip to the Amazon Rivers, I'd say... target to put aside $10K to feel comfortable. Don't forget that the journey there and back will already take away a few days, so be prepared to take unpaid-leave too.

Gecko, good to see you here.
    P-L-E-C-O-R-Y=M-A-N-I-A!!! YEAH!
FLORENCE, capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants, spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. It is a city which bustles with industry and craft, commerce and culture, art and science.

we talked about it a little before here:

    http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=17970

check out the site and travel logs.
i reckon since you are going all the way there two weeks minimum.
also, some big catches were let off as they didn't have the means to keep it alive.
btw they all bought whatever they couldn't catch in the end...
the more "expensive" stuff they saw were USD$8 dollars!!
but with shipping it all adds up.

    michael,
    the trip is still alive?

Very much, Celtic. Been mawing on this for quite some time already. But couldn't fit it in this year. It's once in a lifetime would love to see it before it's gone. Hope in, there's still 1 or 2 slots. It's scheduled for Aug next year.
