    Hi all,

anyone know where to get the eden 501? I'm residing in Australia right now, and am finding it hard to find canister filters for smaller aquariums.

My planted aquarium is 60cmX22cmX20cm = 27L, and have been looking at the fluval 105's, which seems to be the only canister filter I can find here close enough. (rated for tanks around 150L)

    Cheers

unless you're coming to Singapore, you can buy it from our LFS such as NA or C328. But if it's Australia that you're talking about, then i wouldnt have any clues

Yup, tried getting help from my LFS, but I keep coming back with the same suggestion - get a hang on filter or upgrade to a bigger tank.

Anyone tried using other canister filters for a 27L planted tank?

How about one of the models from the Eheim Ecco series?

Eheim ecco (2232 ?) haven't thought of that, but still gonna be a huge overkill for my tanks considering it's only 27L, the 2232 I think rated for 100L tank.

Anyone used this capacity of a filter in a 27L (about 9-10 gal ) planted tank before? Wouldn't it just rip the plants off the substrate?

i would still prefer to get a small canister type such as Eden 501. I'm using one for my 1.5 feet tank, totally satisfied with it

Just got a set from NA. Very pleased with it. Extremely silent filter.

When you say 1 feet in S'pore, is it 33cm?

Just wondering Genes, what's the eden 501 worth in S'pore?

When we mention 1ft, its usually 30cm.
    Eden 501 is around $60.

I came across the 501 at C328. They are selling it at SGD $55. Looks small with a minimalist design.

a 2232 on a 27litre tank is fine.. in fact its great!!
a one feet tank mentioned here is usually a cube.. 30cmx30cmx30cm. Thats about 25 litres. I run a 2232 on my one feet tanks and its fine... no worries.
    But thats just me.. i love over-filtration.. my 2ft tank (50litre) runs a 2028!!
however there are other options as well like a 2213 etc. those work jsut fine.

    Yeah, I run a Eheim Ecco 2233 (2234 now) for a 1.5ft tank while a 2231 (now 2232) for a slightly smaller one.

Well, in the event that the Eden 501 is not available, I suppose an Ecco will be an alternative. In the 1.5ft tank, the outlet is being directed at the diffusor of a DIY co2 while the rainbar down the back of the other tank has one of its 3 (joint) pieces facing the back (glass).

Thanks for the info guys...... it's just opened up my horizons on the type of filters I can use in my tiny tank. I might even look at the fluvals which is rated for tanks of around 100L (very common here in Australia) - and quite reasonable in price too (about AU$110).......Anyone used it ? (I know eheims are the undisputed favourite in this forum)

& Ranmasamatome : You are running a 2028 in a 50L tank? Isn't that rated for 600L tanks? Is you 50L a planted tank (if it is, wouldn't it just suck in and desimate all plants and substrate - and maybe even fish?)
