What's that? A mix to seed a daphnia culture?
    Warm regards,

It's a fish food mix sold at EcoCulture. Just a question, what do you feed your communal fish to bring out their colours?
    Cheers,

I feed my fish whatever I can get my hands on at that moment. Frozen daphnia, live Monia, Cyclopeze, Tetra bits, Live tubifex, frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, boiled sweet potato, boiled carrots, boiled cucumber...

I think fish display their colour when there is consistency in good water conditions. Fish in my non CO2 tanks with little to no water changes show intense colouration. Fish in my high light, high CO2, high dose fertiliser tanks that need weekly water changes have poor colouration.
    Warm regards,

    Lawrence Lee

Maybe because our tap waters are not so "good" anymore.

Anyway, what is artificial daphnia? Mock daphnia (like the mock meats we find in our chinese vegetarian cuisine)?
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Why use mock daphnia when live daphnia/moina is readily available in our LFSs all year round?

    Vinz,

What's wrong with our tap water? I'm doing 50-75% water changes every 2-3 weeks these days and have yet to notice any issues with it.

I am also not sure, which is why I asked. That's what Azmi at Ecoculture call his concocted fish mix. He says it works and I noticed that his espeis look especially brilliant in colour compared to other LFS

I am using Azmi daphnia mix currently....Very well accepted by my apistos and corys....even my oto also feeds on it recently.

Changes or improvement wise I also dunno yet cos just started using last week...only know my apistos is kind of addicted to it....24/7 hanging at water surface waiting to be feed.

no harm giving it a try also...save the travelling hassle to purchase live daphnia from lfs too...

What's this artificial daphnia mix? Is it a dry food? Does it really contain daphnia?

what I saw is that Azmi uses the manual camera film cannister to fill up and it is priced at $5. I was like "Whoa!" that expensive? So just how much does it cost really? Price per volume?
    Cheers,

Some secret concoction by him. I asked him also but he sidetracked and told me it works. The fishes are suddenly alive when he feeds them. Colour-wise I cannot be sure but the espeis are significantly brilliant in colour.

Vinz, are you still having water problems? My observation of Hougang's water is that quality is erratic. I now have a tub of plant trimmings and lots of mulm which I'd use to test the water. If 50% change does not turn cloudy overnight means I can change water the next morning with double dose of AquaPlus for good measure. Perhaps it is remnant Ozone that is used in the water? I'm speculating as well as digressing from the thread.

Andrew, I have T. espei from Ecoculture. They're also brilliant orange, being fed the "rojak" I mentioned above. Maybe it's his breed quality, but I think it's more due to age, acclimatisation and stability.

Food is important, but I realise feeding only one type of food doesn't give good results for me.
    Warm regards,

    Lawrence Lee

I have 2 batches of T. espei, both equally active and feeding well. One batch is from EC and another from Horizon, the fishes from the former one is much much more coloured up than the latter. I am not sure if it is the mix since I thought the supply should be the same
    Cheers,
