Have bene wondering about the Eden 501 or the Shiruba Xb-301 as the price is amost half.

    Anyone use either or both.
    Shiruba:
    Size:17.5x12x15.5
    Volume:1.6L
    Power:6W
    Circ:240L/H

    Eden 501:
    Size: 15X9X16.5
    Circ: 300L/H
    Power: 4W

So the circ is a little better, but with a 50L tank would the extra 60 L per hour really make a great difference?
When the price of the Shiruba is half the Eden, worth it to buy?

    Help needed.

    Thanks

There's a thread comparing Eden 501 with other brand made, http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=21082. Eden 501 so far are highly rated by most users and proved to be effective with tank size smaller than 2ft.
not too sure about shiruba brand, but if your budget allow, will recommend Eden 501.
    what's your tank size?

    50 Litre

    Tank is a 50 litre.

I have a Eheim 2041 on it now (hang on one) and since I converted it to a planted tank, thought it might be better to get a canister style for it.

Been looking at other brands two as there are about 5 here in Taiwan all the same size, style etc, all about 240l/hr but the eden is 300 l/h.

Just wasn't sure if there are an real differences beside just being a brand name, and since I can't go and buy them all and try them out... well....

Eden is very silent and over filtration is usually better. Just my thoughts

Would not recommend either stated filter for a 50L aquarium. Have always been a firm believer of good water circulation and having experimented using the 501 on a 2 x 1 x 1, my advice is go for the Eheim Classis 2213.

    Eheim Classic 2213?

Eheim Classis 2213 is for a 150 to 250 L tank. I have a 50 L tank. My plants would be blown away!
Plus with the Eden at 800 NT, the Shibaru at 400 nt and the Eheim going for a minium of 2400nt, it is kind of difficult to compare. 6 times the price just isn't worth it.

i am using eden501...slient and efficient...i have not seen shibura or used it before...judging from the specs you gave...shibura consumes more power but at a slower flowrate than eden...imho having a little more flow for a 50litretank is fine. after the adding of filtermedia the flow is weaken. of course the price difference is half.

i would suggest you getting eden. based on your price, it's certainly cheaper than we get it for here in Singapore.

Your plants wouldn't be blown away! Depending on where you are placing your filter, you outflow pressure will be decreased by quite a bit...

If you filter is 2-3 ft below your tank, you are going to complain that the flow is bad... I am using a 2213 on my 2x1x1, and I am thinking of changing it to a 2222 in the near future...

You can also use a rain bar to slow down the outflow...

I'm currently using the Eden 501 with a sponge filter for my 2ft discus tank. You know how much polluted it can get for discus, so far I have no problem and my precious discus are very healthy.

Eden up same as Eheim down?

So an Eden 501 right beside the tank would have the same output as a Eheim 2211 3 feet below the tank. Based on my understanding if the eden is attached to the tank or on the same stand as the tank, then the output would be fine? Is that correct. But if I have trying to use it lower, then no chance. But the Eheim would be below the tank the output would be reduced. What if it was beside the tank(my preferred placement due to location). Would the output be extreme for a 46 X 30 X 35 cm tank?

Kemp - how expensive are they in Singapore?

If a filter consumes more power for a given flow rate, would that mean that it would be able to coninue that flow rate better under extreme situations then a filter that uses less power.
That is, if the Eden use 4 watts for 300/h, and the Shiruba uses 6 watts for 240/h, does that mean that the eden woudl be reduced due to media etc but the shiruba under the sme situation would not be reduced, would have more power to push through, or does it mean the shiruba is just uses power less wisely?

The EDEN is about 1100NT here in Singapore... If electrically compatible, I will buy from Taiwan when I am there...

Please note that the voltage of the electrical stuffs here is different from Taiwan. I had this problem before when I was working in Taipei.

If you ever get the Eden , you won't regret it.
I just got mine today and the performance is like "WOW" so slient.

I was hoping it can make a bigger size one so i can use it for my 2 ft, presently using for my 1.5 ft.

If no choice, i would buy x2 Eden 501 for my 2 ft tank.

    I love to over filter.
