Hi, I am thinking of scaping my plant tank like the attached picture (amano style ).

any tips on how to grow/place the riccia so that it looks like what's in the picture? i am guessing maybe the riccia is placed on rocks left and right corners of the tank, otherwise it's hard to achieve that terrace look?!

Sometimes the Riccia will achieve this look naturally. When tied on the driftwood, they grow at different rates and a terrace look could materialise.

Another way is to use round flat river stones and use a netting to secure the Riccia over it. Then place the rocks in a sloping manner. Should get the terrace look as well.

I once had a pretty even driftwood and I tied moss over it. It gave a bit of terrace took.

Just use a combination of stones and driftwoods. Tie the riccia to them and you should get that effect. You can even place some nanas along with the riccias and let the rizhome/roots get entangled with the riccia to prolong the riccia from floating up.

Thanks. That was an old setup. The glosso looked good at that time. After that it was all downhill as it was not easy to maintain.

Hey juggler... How long did you take to grow that kind of foreground. Mine is like taking forever. Not sure is it because of all my bottom feeders mess arond with it.

That tank pic was taken 2 months after setup. And the Glosso had grown a few layers thick. Glosso need strong lights more importantly.

2 Months?! Mine is like two months already and still not much grwoth... I believe the light is strong enough as there's not glosso growing upwards just crawling but very very slowly.

    That's a nutrient problem then

Hanako, Riccia stones should help you alot there to achieve that look. It looks like there's a very high slope of the substrate too. Needs a heck load of maintainence

squee, ya, i already got riccia stones. they seemed easier to use for riccia than normal pebbles/stones as they are very flat and smooth.

Just tied and let it grow out, then cut to round some of the edges, maintainable for 6 months then floating jungle.
