    Hi! All,

I have a 90 g planted tank which has 210 watts of PL lights controlled by a digital timer. Was wondering if it is possible to simulate day & night using the same light. This would be better for the fishes as compared to all the lights coming on at the same time & all of them getting switched off at the same time.Is there any device available using which the lights can come on slowly simulating sunrise and then swich off slowly simulating sunset?

Thanks is advance for your resposnes.

    Regards,

    Saugata

Some marine folks use a control box to control all the controllable parameter in their tank. I will get to see one when my friend set one up this month or next. Having said that, they use MH and not PL.

I use T5 and I use timer to make sure different sets of lights come on/off at different time. Side topic a little; I find the LED light very useful to simulate moon light. My fish used to jump (and die) at night when someone from my place happened to switch on the light in the hall. With the night light, there has been no casualty so far (touch wood) even though all my fishes can be considered good jumper plus my tank is braceless.

Yes you can achieve the dawn to dusk effect Saugata. You will need multiple timers depending on the amount of lighting cable that is connected to each bulb. How many lighting socket/plug are connected to each bulb or light casing?

i have household lightings which is fixed with Dimmers, manually control types, allows controlling of brightness. Not too sure whether there's automated ones, and be able to incorporate into aquatic lamps.
