maybe you want to tie some moss on the DW at the left, abit bare. Anyway i think this should belong to Aquascaping thread, so that more people can post more comments on it
This is what it looks like after 2 weeks. Thanks to Michael Lai for inspiration on the DW layout but have to adjust after the original position was found to be unstable.
Sorry about the calcium deposits. Have tried many acid washes but these are plain stubborn. Hopefully the plants will eventually cover that up.
Got a handful of cardinals and some red-coloured tetras of which I have forgotten what they are called. (Anyway I have a terrible memory for these blasted names! Fishes as well as plants! Perhaps it is the age thing...)
The tetras are still shy and they hide behind the tank when I go near. The yamatos should be dying as I think it doesn't look like I have 20 of them! That was what I started with but they keep running around so I can't really say I have got my numbers right. And they looked to have shrunk although I do supplement them with fish food. And I saw a few "skeletons". Perhaps they have changed clothes?
.
Appreciate comments on next steps to take from fellow forumers to improve.

Yamatos are very good in hiding. There was once that I have 6 of them but everyday I only counted 2 or 3, wondering where are the rest.
When I dig out my block of wood, they are hiding underneath the small space between the wood and the gravel!
Your red color fish looks like Hi-Fin Tetra. They have red body and a couple of black spots right?
Well I'm not sure if you want it here or the Aquascaping section. Give me a pm!![]()
try replant your hairgrass, in smaller portion and plant them about 2cm apart. Can refer in grey_fox 5 footer tank journal. Alot of spaces to fill in, more plants be good.
The Happiest of people don't neccessary have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way
When will there be 25 letters in the alphabets?
I don't think I saw any black spots on the tetras. The body is translucent and the skeleton is visible and red too. Got them from Gan.
Do the Yamatos shrink? They're starting to look smaller than when I first bought them. Or the big ones are in hiding and the smaller ones out to play?

I'm not sure about Yamatos, but I'm sure that mine kept growing because I alway see the empty shrimp shells once every 3-5 days.
And, I'm very sure that they love to hide in one corner.![]()
Planned to do that but ran out of moss before I got there..I thought shrimps like moss? But they are not favoring the moss at the moment. Is it because the moss were newly attached?

One other thing is having more stem plants to hide the equipments.
...I love rubies too ...

To confirm whether they are hiding or not, just lift up the wood you have and check the bottom of the wood, see if they are hiding there?
If they are dead, it's quit obvious. They are curled up and turn orange in color, just like drunken prawn dish.![]()
Initially when I started planting the hair grass, I didn't know what the landscape was going to look like. It is only after you have done the planting and sat back to look at it, then you start saying hmmmm, are you sure it is suppose to be like this...Doubts surface. Anyway, without experience, what I am doing is trial and error. .If it doesn't look nice, change. My fear is over doing it.
Yep, should replant the hairgrass. My patience may not last that long.![]()
Yes more stem plants are needed. However, got some stuff planted already and waiting for them to grow. If they don't reach the required height, probably will move them to the mid ground. Probably will move the equipment itself as the quicker solution.

Let me get my digicam and see what I can snap. There is one particular fish that I want to highlight because it has a crooked skeleton compare to the other fishes.
