Sorry for the stupid Qs... Never see this MH before. Don't know how to connect the cable into the connector/ballast.

As pictures shown below. normally we connect the cable to N (black color cable) and L(Red color cable). E is earth (green/yellow color cable). But then...why there is another brown cable? (shown in pic P1010184.jpg on the right)

    pls help....thx.

One thing for sure you should not use the screw-in type to join your wire, MH is very hot and cause this melt or become brittle and crack . Subsequently you will get electric shock or trip.

    2 safety precaution you should have/do :
    a) buy color heat-insulated wire from lighting shop, reason : to differentiate the live, neutral, earth , also to protect the melting of wire.
    b) get a mushroom shape connector and put both wires inside , clamp using plier to fully join your wires. This what I saw inside my original MH light and that I used when I modified my MH.

As of how to join the starter and ballast for the MH, I forgot how was it being connected. Best is to check with a lighting shop. They should be able to guide you.

Then, I think you are waiting for trouble to happen. The screw-in connector become brittle over time especially inside very hot environment, the wires will be become exposed.

BTW, if you mentioned it is original, why do you need to know how to connect to the MH ? Should it been connected ?

Those mushroom shape connector also covered by a layer of plastic. Don't you think it will melt?

The MH casing came without the cable which allow to plug into the power plug. So, I need to connect a power cable to the MH.

I see . N is Neutral which is blue , E is earth which green, L is Live which brown (yours show RED) . Your wiring from outside with a UK plug should have this same coloring, then you won't have problem.

Again, the screw-in type definitely have problem later !!
