    Planning for a shallow tank.
    The tank dimension: 36" (L) x 24" (W) x 15" (H). Would 2 39W T5 (3ft) good enough ? and what the are easy plants for the sand substrate ?
    Thank you.

How about a Anubias species and moss only tank, IMO they look great with sand substrate. Lights should be enough if you keep these and java ferns.
    ...I love rubies too ...

Thanks and much appreciated. That sounds like a good idea. Only Anubias & moss & driftwood. Do you guys know where to get those white sand (not those fine type)?

Pure white sand might not look good. You can try ADA bright sand.

RRP for bright sand should be S$50.
