Well, the 11W UV is supposedly used for 7000L ponds, so the 9W should be sufficient. I think I read in the instructions that it's supposed to be turned on 24hrs to clear algae.

I suppose after the algae clears in your tank, you can switch it on only 4 hrs a day

Wow 7000L ponds? Do you happen to know which has the smallest capacity? If I happen to go the UV route I would turn the UV off when the alage clear until I need it.

Well wait for one week to see if the daphnia helps or not.

I am using the JBL UVC 500, just fit it up few days back and it is working fine with my 2ft tank. Initially it is about to breed green water algae but after having it on together with my lighting period it is gone and water is really clean. As of if it destroy benefitial nitrifying bacteria, I am not so sure but according to manual it said it does not. Who know? but I belive so kinda of test and research by the company must have justified for the saying right? Will keep you updated. BTW, UVC 500 is small and compact, neat looking too. Must I on everyday, i have them on together with my tank's lighting period now.
Any comment?

I'm assuming your lightingperiod is not less than 8 hours, which may be too long to use your UVC. It should not switch on for more than 4 hours but the best is you monitor your NO2 or NO3 to check if your beneficial bact is konking out.

Also, if you're using any medication, please disable the UVC.
