KF.. the brasso will cause it to tarnish more the next time..if i'm not wrong.. it'll polish it now but it oxidates real fast.
Just sharing how I cleaned my 4-yr old tarnished aluminum reflector with Brasso and the shine seem to be retained after 3 months. I do not have a acrylic sheet to prevent water splashes so the reflector tarnishes after some time.
Previously, I had tried water, baby wipes or vinegar but it didn't work. I had read that Brasso is not recommended for aluminum but I tried it anyway. I love the result -- at least much better than before.
Anyone has tried other cleaning agents? Please share.

Brasso leaves a micro thin film of oil that prevents oxidation for a while if untouched. Spray clear lacquer to keep the shine on longer.

That's what I read too. So I tested on one light set 3 months ago and compared with the other. I think the shine is still about there, better than dirty. I will monitor and see how.Originally Posted by ranmasatome

Thanks for the link. From the product specs, it mentioned "Suggested Uses: Chrome, Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Copper and Brass." Will give Autosol a try if it tarnishes again.

..so I visualise more bros will be polishing their light reflectors with brasso???..Hard work![]()

Autosol is "sharper" than brasso so it "cuts" more material especially if it is soft like aluminium. However, because of its coarser structure, it will not leave as fine a miror finish on soft metals than Brasso.
I'd use Autosol to cut off really bad stains, since it is really strong stuff and finish off with brasso.

Does brasso or autosol contain anything which is toxic to the fish since from koah fong's photo it doesn't have anything to prevent water from getting to the reflectors again?
