    Hi all,

Just got an Eden 501 as thinking to change to run canister filter

Any suggestions/ideas of the kind of media to put inside and in what sequence?

I don't suppose you just use the ceramic rings and foam provided only right?

    Pls advise!

I'd have been using the stock media all the while.

Yes, you can just use the media provided in the box.

Try getting the Sera biofibers and place them as the first mechanical filter, followed by a piece of normal wool filter, then ceramic rings or biohome. All this should fit in the inlet side of the container. Can stick to the round sponge for the outlet side or more biofibers. I think biohome better for eden since only a small space for biological filter.

Whats a biohome? Whats the material made of?

By normal wool filter you mean those kind of white color, rectangular filter wool sold in big pieces...ie ocean free brand kind? the kind they put on HOT filters?

i got a big piece of such a white color, ocean free filter wool. thinking cut a small piece to shape and put it on top of the ceramic rings.
so that it can be the 1st thing the incoming water goes through. thinking that it will at least take up most of the dirt so that reduce clogging below.

    Any comments?

NA, C328 and many other LFS carry BioHome.
There is 2 types,BioHome and BioHome Plus. BioHome (white) is the normal one, BioHome Plus (red) has trace elements added to promote the growth of BB.
If I remember correctly, 1KG of the white one is slightly <$50 and 1KG of the red one is slightly <$60
They come in boxes of 300g too, can remember the price though.

I'm using the Eden501 for my 1.5feet tank for more than a month. So far so good, with the media provided. Seriously don't think the biohome is necessary
