I recently 'dismantled' my aquarium setup which was left alone for the last 3 mths with plants and fishes and shrimps in there. All my livestocks were thrown into my water feature setup.

To my 'ing discovery, my log in the tank with lots of hidding place has actually got one part 'sealed' up with mud-like substances. I only have normal gravel, no fertilizer in tank.

Now, what are these mud-like substance that have been 'pasted' onto my log... can they be NEST OF THE SHRIMPS i have in my tank?

I've thrown back this log into my stagnant water in the tank... hopefully there are some more newbies/survivors... Thank you.

Nest of shrimps? Got a photo of this "nest"? Did you try to peel off part of the mud to further investigate?

Shrimps carry their eggs till they hatch. Most likely, you may have snail eggs. Any pictures?

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

hmm.. i'll try to take a pic to nite and upload it...

i won't dare to touch the 'nest' part... watched too much species etc. hahaha anyway, if really it's a nest, if i peel or damaged part of the structure, i'll prob. kill something in the process... too cruel.

snail eggs... most likely not. I've had this tank for the past year, no snails around definitely. And furthermore, for the last 3 mths, I did not touch it at all, not even changing water. Therefore, NO snails.

I really wonder what that nest contains. Sounds quite gross actually.

Thinking of it, giving me creeps. But would love to see some pictures taken though. Sounds interesting
