I've looked at this technology for some time. Although LEDs may be able to emit light at the right wavelengths for plant growth, I doubt whether the lumens are intense enough. At this point, I am guessing sufficient lumens at right wavelength is crucial for plant growth and I am also speculating that LEDs won't be able to meet. If you have some data for LEDs that may help to analyse the feasibility of it.
However, if you are just looking at LEDs as a source for illumination, I think this is a very viable option.

like Jebao & Jebo. But the lifespan does last very long 5-10 years plus I actually love the sunrise/sunset mode which could not be done with FL unless one using dimming ballast "overseas order only". Also one might not need chiller if water temp is good.
