After 14 month of usage, the meter of my 3.5l CO2 tank had started to drop a little. Do I wait until the CO2 drop to zero, or I have to go top up now. Seems to recall reading somewhere that if the CO2 drop to near zero, there is a chance of a rapid release. Is that true? Noobish question from a first time CO2 user.

If the needle goes below the 1000psi mark, your tank should last you another 3 weeks or so, depending on your BPS...

Wait till it hits zero lar... Why waste 3 weeks of CO2? Your CO2 tank is what kind? NA type?

If you have a check valve at both the inlet and outlet of your bubble counter, you don't have to worry about anything...

Don't waste the remainder, use it till it finishes. Anyway you've 1 to 1 exchange at NA right?

The one-to-one exchange is immediate at NA somemore... Remove your tubings from the bubble counter, remember to have your checkvalve still on the tubing, else it is a good flood in your house... Bring the whole tank down together with your solenoid intact and some one at the shop will help you transfer the solenoid to the new tank...

Don't even need you to do anything... Except maybe to drive down...

Chatted with Tan from Bioplast that , when it reaches the 50 psi , the remaining are just air , lesser CO2. Not sure this is true , any one can confirm this !

Now that's good advice! I personally know of one case where it was overlooked. The 2 ft tank drained almost dry. It was a total mess.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Thanks everyone for the advice. Think will just bring it to change a new tank once the needle hit 50%.Also thanks for the headsup about the checkvalve. Will take note of that when I detach the tank to top up. Cheers

If the pH of the water goes down once you start injecting the gas, how can that be more air than CO2? The CO2 cylinder topup is done with liquid CO2 in the first place isn't it?
