I am ordering the above from Mike Wise.
    Anybody in Singapore interested?

Might be able to save on shipping instead of separate orders.

    Here's a brief write up.

The translation of Koslowski's book "Cichlids of the Americas, v. 2 - Apistogramma & Co." is ready. This translation is updated & includes all apisto species and forms published up to June 2006 & their A-numbers. It is 233 pages of text - no photos.

The original book (318 pages long, over 300 color photos, + 20 maps and drawings) is volume 2 of the 3 volume set of "Die Buntbarshe Amerikas" (Cichlids of the Americas). It covers the geophagine dwarf cichlids in the genera Apistogramma, Apistogrammoides, Mikrogeophagus, and Taeniacara (the other dwarf cichlid genera are found in the other 2 books). This book is basically designed with 2 purposes in mind: species identification and habitat data. The identification section goes into describing in general details how to distinguish different closely related fish from each other. Species chapters are split up into species-groups/complexes with all of the closely related (similar looking) forms grouped together with individual sub-chapters descripting each form & where known its distribution, biotope and the water conditions in which it was found in the wild. Biotope & water values are from many of the formost collectors around the world. In fact, this is the only book that has contributions from sources in Europe, North & South America, Japan, and Taiwan. Based on this information, Koslowski assumes that any hobbyist who can simulate the described water conditions can also successfully breed the fish. Koslowski has successfully bred almost all of the form he discusses in the book. For certain hard-to-breed forms he adds additional information. It also has a large section on Apistogramma ethology (behavior, including breeding) so that hobbyist can understand why their fish do what they do.

Seems like the interest for dwarf cichlids have waned in the 3 months that I'm absent here. Shame.

If I can get the German edition, I would like to have the translation too. The pictures are in the German edition.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Maybe we can do a group order (don't want to use MO, don't think there is a HUGH number) for the original book? I quite interested to know more about the biotope and stuff...

The Chinese version (Black book, titled "South American Cichlids") can be abit tiring to read sometimes and not alot of information on biotopes...

High quality and rarer specimens are always available here. You just need to know how to access it.

    Cheers,
hang on guys.. I'm getting confused here.. this purchase (or request to purchase) is for the English edition, right?
Also, this English edition comes with pictures, right?
In other words, this is the same book as the German one except it is in English, right?

If it does not come with picture then I'm out.. sorry man.. I'm a visual person.

    Nicky,

See the description above and the part in blue that says No photo. It's just pages after pages of text.

Anway, you can supplement it with the Datz publication.

Such a pity the English translation book does not come with pictures. Would have been a really great book if there were pics for newbies to identify the species.

For the Koslowski's German book it will cost €49,90/US$63.66.
    See here for more details:
    http://shop.ulmer.de/T9pd3GIR3EZJ1G1...xAHYqC+++.HTML

It might make lots of sense to purchase this book together with the English text one..
Hence it will most probably be US$63.66 + US$25 for both.
Anyhow, I will close the order 14July 8pm.
If there are orders for the German book, please specify your request.
Apparently Mike might be able to do a 'bulk' order for that book too.
