Thickness of the tank

What should be the glass thickness for a 3x1.8x1.8 tank? What are the consequences if the glass is too thin? What is the ideal thickness for a 3ft to 4ft tank?

3x1.5x1.5 are often offered as made with 6mm glass..thats pretty standard..if you are on a budget and want jsut a no frills tank, that is ok. SHould set you back abt 65-75$ .

if you want to have a taller tank, eg 2ft, 10mm is minimum

4ft regardless of height i feel that 10mm minimum is safer

agree with you lsz......just to add on ensure that the brace of the tank is done properly. the usual ones have three brace at the top of the tank, 2 at the side and 1 in the centre......expect to pay alittle more for those without the center bracing

i usually go for thickness between 12-15mm..[] ok.. to be safe and for asthetics reasons.. [] of course.. more ex.. before i foget.. that is like for 4-5ft tanks..

Imo pretty okay but why 8mm just give it a 10mm, but if u insist on 8mm it will be okay too.

8mm is pretty standard.. but depend on what u wanna keep.. if can go for 10mm.. best.. thicker also nicer mah.. stronger too.. hahaha

Want to know for a 5 ft to 6ft tank, is it that the thickness in the range of 10 to 12mm?

Do we use tempered glass or normal glass? All the while, I thought that we need to use tempered for safety reason. What is your thoughts?
What is the difference in price between 10mm and 12mm tempered glass for 5ft tank or 6ft tank

I thought for safety reason to your fishes, you should not use tempered as the glass will shattered on impact ?

As for safety to Children, normally are for those clear glass door and tables, then u need tempered.

6mm is the market standard for 3x1.5x1.5
It is the minimum acceptable. It is a safe thickness provided the make is reasonably good. Price now should be in 60-70$ range

10mm is a luxury if you can afford
But IMO not a nessesity

Seldom see 8mm
but it is a good thickness if you can get one

Normally they use how many mm for 5 and 6 fts, especially for violent fish like aro or rocky african tanks?
