Hmmm.... you might want to consider getting an Eden 304 or 316 internal filter. Solves your noise problems. I think pricewise, not too bad. I know PetMart has them.
Presently, i am keeping small albinos cories in a 1ft tank. The filter i used is corner box filter via air-pump.Although, the volume of the air-pump can be controlled, it is quite noisy and irritating in the middle of the silent night.I heard that the is a quiet air-pump sell in the Lfs.Can anyone tell me which brand is that.Thanks.

Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
thanks, vinz.
The Air pump i'm using is very silent, can't hear anything from it. I love the sound of running water from the liberty series, it seems u're back to nature once again -)
Cheers!

benetay, your liberty series sounds like the eheim liberty hang-on filter. is it?
P-L-E-C-O-R-Y=M-A-N-I-A!!! YEAH!
FLORENCE, capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants, spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. It is a city which bustles with industry and craft, commerce and culture, art and science.
U may like to confirm the actual source of noise ?
1. Vib emitting from the supporting frame supporting the pump?
2. Vib from the air-pump ?
3. Loose parts on the supporting table frame structure ?
For my case, I have a spoonge placed below the pump and the
motoring noise gone.

ya ehiem liberty.

er, i think eheim liberty may be abit too big for pepperfish's 1ft tank...
she's asking about the pump for her filter box.
yeah, maybe she can consider changing to internal filters instead.

pepperfish, i'm using the mouse airpumps. at $5 per pump (the smallest model), they're cheap and sufficient enough for a 1ft tank. kinda quiet and they don't seem to vibrate that much. air production might be lesser than some other airpumps larger than it. anyway it's value for money and minus the noise. either way u can still get a Eden 316 for around $20+ it has enough mini compartments for u to use any filter media in it and the out of the mini powerhead is controllable.

An alternative solution would be to put the air-pump in a place where you can't hear the noise. Just get enought clear tubing to run the length from tank to new location of pump. Should be ok if you're careful not to kink or lay heavy objects on the tube.
