Hi I intend to grow hair grass in my tank without filling soil or gravel in my tank is it possible, Presently my tank only grow moss and shrimps with co2, liquid fertilizer, light and cooling fan. Any recommendation which grass that dont need soil to grow and I can use the plastic nets to sink and group them togather.

i suppose there's no such hairgrass.

why not consider having gravel? with it, there's lot of plants to play with.

Actually you can grow hairgrass without gravel or soil. You can grow on the moss carpet itself.

You can tie moss on mesh and let moss grows to reasonable size. Then tie some hairgrass on the mesh, and it will grow on the moss.

This method will not give you carpet , flat hairgrass look.

i think for your requirement, riccia seems to suit you better. no need gravel. just tie them to a wiremesh then sink it onto the bottom of your tank. You'll then be able to achieve the foreground feel that you like to have. Of course, you should know the pros and cons of having riccia in your tank

Kemp...he mentioned cons... not pros .... can see??

Riccia is hard to get rid of.. should you not like the look fo the riccia in your tank.. it will be very hard for you to remove it completely. A few weeks later, you'll see a patch grwoing here and there.. then it invades your other plants.. it'll come to a stage where you're removing it so often that you get sooooooooooo fed up with it.

It also grows damn freakin fast...so trimming is a routine chore...imagine every single week or half a week.. you're removing riccia and trimming riccia and doing other crap to prevent riccia..
