    Hi Guys,

I'm intending to take a plunge into getting a chiller for my 1.5 feet tank. Have thought of(after advise) to consider resun cl280. I'm currently using eden 501 filter, was afraid it might not be strong enough current. Any advise? Or given that my eden 501 is less than 2months old, so have no intention to replace it yet, if cl280 is too much for it. What other models should i be looking at? I would prefer to get a less noisy model and was told cl280 is relatively quiet, any other that i should look at? (Buget hope to keep around less than $300)

    Thanks

Currently using a 2213 with a CL280 for my 1.5 ft tank. Cooling it to 24 degrees with the chiller kicking in approx every 15-20 mins. Don't think the Eden 501 will be powerful enough. The CL280 specifies a flow of 500 to 1000 litres/hour and the 2213 has a rate of around 440. So it approximately matches. The Eden is approx 300 litres/hour. By the way what are you using the tank for?

i'm having spiky moss and hopefully some willow moss in my tank. Having cherries in my tank now, intending to upgrade to keeping CRS. my tank temperature fluctuate between 26-27degree using a profantec, hoping to drive the temperature down a further 2 degree. Not having much success having willow moss in my tank, maybe could be due to my temperature, whereas, my spiky moss foreground are growing quite well

I have an old CL280 lying around. Not efficient. You can have it for a token if you want to. I have not used it for a while. Just to test the flow rate also would be good. I am in the east. PM me with your details if you are interested.

I think if you want to use the resun cl280 you should be using a flowrate of 500L/H at least.

A faster flow rate in my experience in using resun chiller result in less and more consistent kicking in of the chiller.

But then .. being a 1.5ft tank it's seem the flow rate is way overkill ...

If you can afford i suggest you get a 2 x 1 x 1 ft tank at least so your tank won't have so much turbulence.

spinex, so do you think there's any chance that eden501 be able to drive the CL280.
My tank relatively a small one, total of only 30Litres of water in it. If i minus my 2inch thick substrate, i think the maximum water i have in my tank might be way below 25L

    Hi

I have an eden 501, and a chiller cl280 also. howerver, the Cl280 is cooling my 3 feet (180L) , driven by eheim 2026. on the cl280 box, it recommended a flow rate of 1000lh/h or 1100 or even 1200 i think. IMHO the Eden 501 (which is driving a 20L tank) will not be enough for a cl280.

Cl280 is not quiet. Again i am not comparing with other chillers. Just wanted to say that because in a room (student single), i will say it is even annoying. Had fights with my gf over that in the past. Sometime i even reduce temperature setting before i sleep, then when i go to bed, i increase the settings, such that before the chiller kicks in again, hopefully i will be sleeping.

To keep moss in a 25L, you can simply cool it by fan. I think it will be better, unless you really want to achieve well below 25.

when my normal room temperature is about 30+, and my 1.5feet tank is kept at about 26-27 using fan. (12cm or so , big profantec fan)

I'm also using the Profantec fan now. Like you've said temperature always hovering in between 26-27. Had recently rescaped my tank more than a month ago, have stabilised all water condition and parameter in my tank. Now intending to take a plunge into CRS, am a little paranoid of my water temperature, that's the reason why intend to get a chiller for it
