    Hello Bros,

I am about to redo my entire tank with ADA amazonia and powersand. I wanted to know if anyone of you are using the wire mesh that goes over the powersand, then you top off with the AS?

Are you guys over in Singapore using this as I know many in Hong Kong are.

The problem with PS is that when you uproot, the PS come up, so in order to prevent this, many use the net.

What are your experiances with this? I need to know this before I put the net in coz later it will be impossible to take it out.

I would appreciate your help in this matter. I already have the net.

    Cheers!
80G 4ft Planted tank, pressurized CO2, 3bps, 288 watts HOFL, ADA Aquasoil, Powersand. Also 5 other small tanks 10-30g all non-co2 and low lights. Wife Acceptance Factor: Very bad

if you put the net/mesh in, i doubt you can uproot plants later. especially if the net/mesh has small grids.

There has been discussion on aquaticplantcentral about this. Apparently it doesn't work that well.. but it helps.

What they said about Amano solving this problem is that after every rescape they pour more Aquasoil to cover the exposed Powersand.

Or else, do away the powersand. Just have the aquasoil, then dose through using liquid fertiliser

Well this has been my main worry, knowing me and many of you, I keep changing things around, as and when I get good plants, so lots of uprooting. I was told that the mesh helps to keep the powersand down. I have read all eh discussions in the APC, and they advise not to use it. Wayne Sham and the likes use it a lot in HKG.

I already have the PS, now I'm two minded if I should use the PS or not. With is they say plants will grow well, without it also people say plants will grow fine, but perhaps not as good? I know many use only the AS and it works fine. I have a lot of dry ferts and do not plan on using the ADA ferts, as I prefer the EI method and it works for me. I will be dosing a lean EI method from day one. But then again people have not dosed anything but Brighty K for a month.

Things are so confusing these days. With PS and AS some says no need to dose, some say dose from day one, both ways seem to work. But new users of AS and PS get confused.

With regular gravel, peat/mulm based, good CO2 and Ei method, I have great success, my plants grow like weeds, no algae issues. Now I want to switch to ADA substrat and I find contradictory advice.

I want to do EI, coz I know it well. I would like to use PS with the AS and still do EI from day one. As Tom Barr says, it works well as the plants have everything they need. So should I then skip the PS and dose the water column?

Today is the day my plants are coming in and tomorrow is the big rescaping. And I am still confused. Can someone please advise me once final time before I go ahead? I can skip the mesh, which is not a big issue.

To skip or not to skip the PS is now my issue. But I also want to dose EI. Ok I know I've now gone offtrack here, this is an equipment section, sorry

From one hobbyist to another, thank you in advance.

I'd skip Powersand and go by familiar EI.

    Hi,

After a long delibration I decided NOT to use the mesh. I did use the powersand after all. I thought that I would go all the way since I had bought the ADA AS and PS. I started Monday at 1pm, tore down the old tank, cleaned and setup the new one, finished at 4am the next day with breaks of course. I will post some pics of the finished tank tonight after I take some pics. But this section won't be appropriate, I'll post it in aquascaping.

    Thanks for all the help.
