It's to hang the canister onto the side of the tank.

FLORENCE, capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants, spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. it got slower... i wouldnt say very slow though
in my case it was due to lack of cleaning of pipes and tubing
once and cleared em up and cleaned the impeller unit for good measure the flow rate back to a good level

have to maintain it because i feel that it clogs a little easily
but no complaints with it still!

Had such experience with my office's Eden501. Cleaning the hoses and impeler housing/shaft increases back the flow. Had same issue with my home Tetra filter. After cleaning only the impeller housing/shaft the flow was still very slow. During next week's water change/maintenance I cleaned the hoses and the flowrate was good/high again. Got BBA in the meantime

feel that the hoses and pipes do tend to get clog up a little easily.
but with good maintenance and cleaning the flow will be pretty good.

well... but its such a tiny canister filter... can't expect it to keep on going without doing some work on it right?

Whats in your flter media arrangement? Are the hoses clean?

You may want to do a check that the sponge pipe is connected to your outlet inside the filter itself. For my case, there was once where I failed to secure them tightly and they fell apart un-noticed as I closed the top after maintenance, resulting in mulm "spitting" for a prolonged period.

Hi vinz, I am only using glass rings to fill up one side and the cylindrical sponge that comes with eden 501 on the other side.

Hi kemp, I think my Eden501 is about the same age too.

hi Jeanxavier, so the sponge must touch the motor(top cover) ? My pipe is seen connected well, but there is a gap btw the sponge and the motor(top cover).

Hello Ah ZhaN.. I don't think the sponge must touch the motor but what I was trying to say in my previous post was to make sure the pipe is connected well.. because I find it tends to drop off when the sponge absorbs the water when closing the cover if I am not gentle enough. (Maybe only for my set? )

Sounds ok. At this point, I think jeanxavier's suggestion is most probable. Check that your filter internal parts are connected properly and remains connected when you close the filter.

    Thanks Swoop.

Reason i asked, is because he is back here for holidays, and after seeing my tanks, he is itchy to setup one back in the states.

So i thought i might buy him a filter for him to bring back (SG prices shld be cheaper too), to rekindle his passion of aquariums.
