i had some problem with my eheim 2222, currently the water flow rate had reduce to very small, not enough to drive a 2ft tank, at first i thought its the filter media, so i change it and the flow rate is still the same.

is it that the motor is no long in good working condition resulthing slow rotating on the impeller.

anyone has this problem too.. how do i get it fixs?

is its the end of mine this 2222. life span up liao.

Check if there's any blockages in the pipes. I frequently get Malayan Trumpet Snails trapped in the flow control/lock mechanism of my 2224 model (similar to 2222). Maybe you check that part out or other potential corners.

Stmoo, how long have you been using the 2222. It may be that it need a new impeller set, the whole unit together with the magnet shaft and the impeller.

i had clean the whole filter plus all the piping. but its still the same.

and i had use the filter for 3yr and there isn't any noise from the impeller unlike my Atman filter where the impeller is spoil they make alot of noise.

dun know where to replace the impeller or not, worry after getting the replacement , the flow rate is still the same.

You purge the ball valve area with high pressure jets of water? Sludge might reside in it thus causing a drop in flow rate.

    Hi Stmoo,

Recently, my 2222 also have the same problem as you i.e. slow flow. have you solved the problem?

Not only that, I noticed there is some minor water leakage around the 2222 external filter. Do you have the same problem?

My 2222 filter is about 3 to 4 years old too. Not sure what is the next step.

    hi,
regarding the slow flow rate, u can do a thorough cleaning of the pipes and impeller.
It works for my eheim 2222.

As for the leaking, could it be the O ring problem. (not too sure about this..)

what is did is clean the pip and the hose. inside got those jelly jelly stuff (sludge) that causes the low flow rate for the filter.

after cleaning it, everthing back to normal.

As advise by the rest, clean anything that the water flows through. Stuff build up in the water pathways over time.

As for the leakage. Try smearing vaseline on the o-ring. In the past, new Pro and Pro II series all come with a tube of vaseline. I'm not sure if it's still the case. If that does not work, get a new o-ring.

It's a by product from distillation of crude oil called petroleum jelly. Used as a lubicant and moisturiser.

Anyway, Vaseline has may products nowadays, mostly skin moisturisers.

You should be using the un-altered product. You should be looking for something that looks like below. Make sure it's unscented, uncoloured, etc. It's translucent. You can find it at any pharmacy.

There is no need to change the impeller if it is not broken.

You only need to clean the filter and media. Yes, you have to dis-assemble the filter head. Just use a tooth brush to clean the impeller and the impeller chamber. Slow downs are usually caused by clogging of the media, over stuffing the fine filter pad, or clogging in the rubber hoses and valves of the filter.
