    Hi,

I will be getting a Resun CL-280 chiller and have not decided on which cannister filter to go with it, currently looking at the Eheim 2211 or 2213, which should I get for a 2ft CRS tank?

Using a 2213 and CL280 combo. Works well.

    hi Cheetf,

will the current be too strong for a 2ft CRS tank? the Eheim 2211 output is 330l/hr. tia.

The 2213 will be perfect for the 2ft tank. The filter will lose a little bit of its flow once it's gone through the chiller.

P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

    hi Rosha,

thank you for the input, will consider your recommendation, any idea which Atman model can match the Eheim 2213 model?

The 2213 is retailing for around $80 at Nature Aquarium. I had one that was running from 2000 until last year when i killed it by accidentally dropping the motor whilst doing routine maintainence. It did not give me any problems at all during that time. I think the price tag was worth it for a filter that ran for 5 years(definietly could have run for much longer)...

Sorry for the late reply, I believe that the CL280 requires a min flow rate of 500 litres/hour. The 2213 has a flow rate of 440 litres/hour so I think the match is just right.

As for the filter choice, I would personally buy a Eheim as I find them reliable and easy to look for spares and accessories. I have a canister filter that I has been serving me well for the last 10 years! So I am a firm believer that there are times that it is alright to pay a bit more for the quality.

    Regards.

One point to note is also the highest point of your tank. If you tank edge is going to be more than 1.6m higher than your chiller, get at least a 2026... Your flow after the chiller into the tank might only be reduced to a trickle...

    hi Bros,

thanks for all the inputs, really appreciate it, due to a change of plan, I will be buying a 2nd hand CL-650 from a reefer at a very good price, so now the question is if I will to use it for the 2ft CRS tank which is the best cannister size/model that I should buy? if I will to upgrade to a 4ft tank than what is the best cannister model that I should get? take note that I will be keeping CRS so the current should not be to strong.

    thank you
