You can get that at Nature Aquarium @ Thomson.
Please advise if anyone know where to get the Green outlet funnels as shown in the pciture in the link below? Very keen to add that into my tank. So please.....Thanks.

Hi,
What exactly does the funnel do?
- eric
Not too sure myself.
Maybe those who actually use ADA lily pipe outputs or the Eheim "lily pipe" output can explain better.

Thanks....

I know this question is a little weird, but does it come in other colors, for example black?
Studying the water chemistry and nutrients is a science.
Knowing what plants to get and how to use them is an art.

wider and better distribution of water??

When will there be 25 letters in the alphabets?
Somehow, I don't buy it.
Any studies done?

I have use this when I had my planted tank before I shut it down due to a leak problem.
The use of this funnel is to provide a diffused outflow of water coming out from it. The water flow coming out from using this item is different from that if the water had came out from a pipe alone. There is a slight turbulence at the mouth of this funnel which may create a diffused water flow further away from the funnel. But you need to know how to use it. The cut portion must face the front, as in facing you when you view the tank and should be below the water level.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

BFG, thanks for the explanation. Have learnt another thing from AQ today again
mass flow rate of water is dependent on the width (cross section) of a pipe.
the smaller the area the faster the speed for a fix mass flow rate.
so the diffusor slows the speed/velocity of the water.
the difference with the ADA version is the top being fully closed.
if you look at the outlet width and the pipe width, its about four times bigger.
thus the speed/velocity of water is four times slower for the same mass flow rate.

Thanks for the explanation guys.
So the set up of the funnel in the attached pic in the first post is incorrect right?
- eric
The funnel acts as a loudspeaker for the owner to speak or communicate with the fishes?Dont quite know what is it use for then.
It's not just "Step1: Add Water, Step2: Add Fish" If everything else don't work, add plastic plants and fish
the setup for the first post is okay.
no problem.
but it really depend on your tank setup and plant growth.
you can direct the water to best suit your tank.
