Q1. Which brand of solenoid is good?? (hear that JBJ is a good brand, from UK) this solenoid is good?? compare to other brand one??

    Q2. Shld i buy a 2x24W PL light or 2x36W one for a 2 ft tank?

Q3. If buy those aquasoil, shld i need to put anymore base fertiliser??

Q4. If all the head of the CO2 tank that fit the solenoid is of the standard size? cos i intend to buy it from those industry area.

Q1. Which brand of solenoid is good?? (hear that JBJ is a good brand, from UK) this solenoid is good?? compare to other brand one??
JBJ is the prefered brand because there is an agent here that carries its spare parts unlike the taiwanese brands. However, both JBJ and the taiwanese brands work equally well.

    Q2. Shld i buy a 2x24W PL light or 2x36W one for a 2 ft tank?
Depending on the type of plants you want to keep...A low maintainence tank or otherwise. Personally, i would go for a 2x36W as it gives me a wider range of plants to keep.

Q3. If buy those aquasoil, shld i need to put anymore base fertiliser??
ADA aquasoil do not necessary need base fertiliser although ADA powersand is prefered to work along with aquasoil. I use ADA Amazonia without any baseferts or powersand.

Q4. If all the head of the CO2 tank that fit the solenoid is of the standard size? cos i intend to buy it from those industry area.
Not sure about this. Best to get the whole CO2 system from a LFS instead. Try NA or colourful aquarium beside NA. They do a one to one exhange during refill

german solenoids are good. generally, try to avoid taiwanese or chinese made ones.

    Q2. Shld i buy a 2x24W PL light or 2x36W one for a 2 ft tank?
depends on the plants which you intend to keep.

maybe someone familiar with aquasoil can help you on this.

you can always find fitting to match the the co2 regulator to the solenoid. hardware shops which specializes in valves and fitting should be able to help you.

If I am not wrong, there is no 24W PLs... Someone correct me if I am wrong. I have only heard of 24W T5HO for 2ft... So you only have the option of 2x36W PL for 2 ft... Think squee is using it...

And, really, choice of lights depends on plants. And higher the lights, higher your CO2 input and fertiliser control.

just get the aquasoil would be sufficient enough. Added fertilising can be done through liquid fertiliser

    Hi,

You should consider T5 lightset for your 2ft, it might burn a hole now, as compared to PL, but i believe it's what everyone is upgrading to. I would have started out with T5 if i knew better, just my 2 cents.

Note that more light does not equal to better. The more lights you have the more you need to control your nutrients and CO2 availability. For a 2 ft tank, it is hard enough to maintain consistent water parameters. Just keep to FL light for a 2 ft is more than enough.

PL lights are great but due to the housing in the market currently, you may experience difficulty in scaping since the centre of the tank would be flooded with LOTS of lights but the side is almost minimal which makes it hard to scape.

T5 lightings are more for tanks with the depth of 18 inches and they tend to break quite easily (from experiences from my planted tank pals)

So far for 2 ft tanks, with 1 full spectrum (Philip Daylight) 2ft FL tube. I am able to keep most low light plants well. with 2 tubes, I am able to grow highlight plants and needs trimming almost every week. It only cost me only 4 dollars every 6 mths (assuming if you change tubes every 6mth).

    Hope this helps.

Most of the LFS have, like NA, Kingfisher. Light shop also have.
    I got mine from NA.
