    Hi Folks

I am thinking of starting a small low light planted tank. Trying to find an all-in-one tank with hood and came across this Japan made Nisso Room-Mate 903 (6 gallons I think) at LFS. It has got 2x built-in filters and 1 x 9watt built-in lighting. Looks nice and good quality but not cheap at around S$140/- after discount. Has anyone owned this model before from this brand? Worth the money? Reliable? 9 watts for 6 gallons, I think the plant choices would be hair grass, nana, anubias, right? I don't intent to use cannister or DIY CO2 but maybe some Flourish Excel.

    Comments appreciated.

Price is a little steep. You could get a standard tank,filter,clip-on 13w lamp and a fan(Plants wud love that) for about $60. Not in a set of course! I've also seen cube tanks with Hang on filter and built in lamp for about $70.

Since you are planning to start a planted setup, apart from the things you mentioned, there are others like gravel, plants...etc. Suppose you have work out a budget, if you are comfortable with the price, why not!?
By the way, you can read up the thread on nisso tanks, comments by benny.
But will recommend you to have a walk at any LFS and compare the prices. would say you might have save some buying from those individual accessories.

    - lapis sand ($
    - filter Jebo 502 ($6)
    - DIY fan (
    - water conditioning Genome brand ($3.50)
    - Pl light ($16)
    - low maintenance plant such as moss, nana etc.. ($20)
    - some cheap shrimps such as malayans, cherry, green ($10)

all these add together cost less than $100 buck.. quite worth than buying tat set.. u can work it out urself..
