    Hi,

I have some plants that are growing very fast. Is like alomost 1cm/2days..

Now they are out of the water (if they are straight). What can I do? Can I trim the top off?? or just leave it alone?

    stephen,
then you should trim them off regularly.
they will thus grow back and look nicer after regular triming.

Make the cut in between the stem where leaves sprout.

Looks like grass is either hairgrass or E. tenellus...
Hairgrass just cut like grass... E. tenellus, you can try cutting like grass, haven't try it before... I look for runner and pull them up... Or I just rip the whole plant up...

    Grass like?
you mean hair grass? those which are strands by strands as fine as hair ?
it it is hair grass, you can trim back one quarter so that they can grow mor bushy.
if they are like wild grass, which grows side by side, y can pull off those which are too messy either by cutting or twisting them off with care

Oh...I read the thread is not hairgrass or E. tenellus. Looks more like those larang we always use for camoflague during army time.

The only "larang" look alike is Cyperus helferi But it does not grow as fast as a few cm in a few days.

Same. You just cut it like hairgrass. They will grow back.

Yes. Vallisneria is very fast growing. Trimming is the same, no special technique

But trimming vallisneria by cutting at the top usually causes my leaves to turn black at the tip... So I try to cut near the bottom to prevent unsightly black tips...

Stephen and ms, kindly do the chit-chat thing in the members lounge section or via pm. It is getting off topic.
