I think the rock scape is impressive when completed with plants. IMO, rock no.6 could be place slightly higher so that the main rock flow with the sub-rock (no.6).

Thanks, I see your point might still be able to place the rock 6 higher but for now i will not move anything incase I up-root some of the HC (a few strands already floating around)

    Some updates so far...

4 days since completion of planting (over 2 nights).
    1. noticed this morning the water appears to be a bit greenish tint, hopefully it's not on-set of green water? comtemplating if I should do a water change.

    2. hairgrass seems okay so I'm not too worried about it, while most of the HC seems okay(no yellow leaves so far) a few starts breaking off at the stems, especially those smaller strands with really tiny leaves, 2 possibilities; these plants were not planted deeply enough into the substrate or the smaller plants are just weaker to start.

will update with a few pictures when I find the time.

KF, should have ask you over to help as you know the tank was placed rather high in the dining area, bet you'll will feel worse if you were the one doing the plantings ..and save me the back-ache..Hahaha.

So you going to cover the "path" which is already there between teh two groups of rocks?
Thanks, yes the path between the 2 groups are planted with HC, you will get a better idea when I update the pics.

the rocks are bought, I think Amano refer these as "Seriyu" rocks, I don't think these are geographically from SE Asia.

Not true ! Under extreme highlight, the HC grows and spreads very fast. Of course other requirement must be balanced also.

Ken, get Boraras urophthalmoides. You won't regret it.

Nice!! I almost thought its a non-co2 setup, no piping in yr photos??

Where did you get the rocks?

Btw if in Non CO2 low tech setup, will the HC and Hairgrass survive? Been thinking of a non-CO2 Amano style setup. but have not seen many bros showing off their low tech tank in this style.

    nice setup mate!

as for fauna.. hard to find right species. i'd bet on tetras (p.simulans?) or boraras (b. urophtalmoides as someone mentioned).

    one more: rasbora hengeli?

It's been about 4 weeks since the set-up of this tank, started dosing liquid fertilzers and trimmed hairgrass in the 2nd week, seen some new growth for the hairgrass now.

The HC covered about 70% of the lawn after 4 weeks, but I'm having some trouble getting the HC to spread more with the area directly under the main rock(in the shadows of the rock), the area is still quite sparse, any suggestions to get the HC growing better here?

The tank had some issues with thread algae and greenwater initially, I have to manually remove as much of the thread alage as possible and been doing 70% water change twice a week since, a oto and 3 pcs dwarf pencil fish(Nannostomus marginatus) were released to help. There were improvements and so far I managed to keep the algae in check. Hopefully when the tank matures fully, the algae will disappear all together.
