Hi, I remember reading somewhere the moss does not take in organic carbon at all? Is this true?

CO2 only and not bi-carbonate. The ingredients in Excel is decomposed to produce CO2 (that is how it works from what I heard.). Low light means less CO2 uptake demand which is why moss do fine in non-CO2 enriched tanks and can depend on ambient CO2 (3-4ppm) levels to grow.
